Flights From Msp To Phx

1. {HD} [FULL FLIGHT] Minneapolis (MSP) — Phoenix (PHX) — American Airlines — Airbus A319-132 — N817AW

→ Join me on an early morning flight west from Minneapolis to Phoenix! This was my race to get home in time for work — the SAME DAY. So, if you see an orange reflection, that's my work clothes. We begin at MSP's gate C9 and pushback. The smoke in the air was from all the Canadian wildfires and it dropped visibility LOW. I felt bad for all the ramp workers who had to work in those conditions. Thankfully, there was rain on the way and hopefully it put a damper on the smoke a little bit. We taxi to runway 12R for departure and roar off into the smoky skies above. We ascend over the state of Minnesota, before entering some moderate turbulence over the top of Iowa and into Nebraska. Once we flew over the large storm, we crossed into the clear skies over the remainder of Nebraska, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona. We join the EAGUL6 arrival into Phoenix and land very smoothly on PHX's runway 8 shortly after. A quick taxi to gate A19 completes this 3 hour flight, arriving just about 30 minutes early. I hope you enjoy this full flight as much as I did, and, as always, all the flight information you could ever desire can be found below!

3. {4K} [SUNRISE FULL FLIGHT] Minneapolis (MSP) - Phoenix (PHX) — Southwest Airlines — Boeing 737 MAX 8

→ Well, this isn't an A350...or Delta. This is a 737 MAX of Southwest Airlines — which definitely was not in the plan. Read what happened below!

I booked a Delta A350 flight from Minneapolis to Las Vegas. I overnighted in Minneapolis, eagerly awaiting the alarm to go off, indicating that it was go time. 3:30AM airport shuttle for the 5:15AM flight. In the short time between getting on the shuttle and getting to the airport, the A350 flight was delayed till 900AM -- almost 4 hours late. Initially, it didn't seem like a huge big deal — I'd just be getting there a little late and I'd have to switch sides of the aircraft to prevent being sun-blasted — but problems multiplied when I realized that CES was ending and everybody was going home, so flight prices anywhere from Las Vegas were ridiculous — if available at all. You know it's getting bad when Spirit and Frontier are charging 300 plus dollars for their tickets.
At this point I knew I just had to get home — work was at 4:00 p.m., 2 hours from Phoenix, and there were no viable flight options that worked with the initial delay of 9:00 a.m. I made the decision to outright cancel the Delta A350 flight in exchange for a Southwest flight home. However, the problem I was running into, was the outrageously priced non-stop flights to Phoenix. They were averaging over $360 or equivalent to 25,000 Southwest points. There is one unspoken rule that, while nowhere explicitly does it say it's against the rules, but airlines hate when passengers do it -- it's called skip lagging. Essentially, the passenger books a cheaper fare as a stop-through at their desired destination and bails on the flight leaving their desired destination. This is my first time ever skip lagging, and most likely my last. But when the difference is over 15,000 miles or just over $200, I think it's worth it.
I boarded the Southwest flight direct to Phoenix on a beautiful 737 MAX 8 aircraft and got amazing sunrise footage. While that sunrise footage was supposed to be of a Delta A350 winglet and not a Southwest 737 MAX winglet, sometimes you just have to take what you can get and be grateful.
Once we finally landed in Phoenix, I took a look at the flight to Las Vegas on Delta and they had once again pushed it back -- this time to 2:00 p.m. I am so glad that I decided to bail on that flight because not only would I have had to rebook all of my flights back to Phoenix AGAIN, but there was obviously something very wrong with the aircraft itself or the one-off route to Seoul from Vegas that Delta is having problems with which in no way guarantees that the 2:00 p.m. time would stick and I would be stuck again in a rolling delay in Minneapolis with no way out. I'm sure Delta will fly their A350 to CES again in the future and I will be sure to be on it the next time it comes around!

4. {HD} [FULL FLIGHT] Chicago (ORD) — Phoenix (PHX) — American Airlines — Boeing 787-8 — N808AN

→ Join me as we quietly and effortlessly sail through the sky on this 787 Dreamliner from Chicago to Phoenix! This plane is not usually used on this route, but due to the upcoming holidays, American routed it on here, as well at a thrice daily route from Dallas. This was a semi-light passenger flight, but a REALLY heavy cargo flight, hence the full-length use of the runway versus the shortened version. Nonetheless, we begin at ORD's gate K19 and get pushed back very slow and methodically. Once the engines spooled up, we were off to runway 28R for departure. Now, most aircraft use runway 28R shortened at N5 for takeoff, but our pilots opted for the full length of 28R because of the insanely heavy cargo load on board. Despite being so heavily loaded, we lifted off 28R just about halfway down the runway and sailed quietly off into the skies above. We depart to the west, then overfly a small section of Iowa and Missouri, the entire state of Kansas, a bit Colorado, the northwest half of New Mexico, and begin our descent into Phoenix. Since it was still the morning hours and the wind was still blowing out of the east, we had to fly the EAGUL6 arrival into PHX and land on runway 8. When I say the landing had no remorse, I mean it with every ounce of my body. We hit the ground so hard! Almost as if the pilot forgot to flare! Sheesh! But, at least these planes have a lot more give and my tailbone isn't bruised like other hard landings. Because we landed on the north side, the taxi to gate B23 was simple and sweet. As always, all the flight information you could ever desire can be found below!

9. {HD} [FULL FLIGHT] Phoenix (PHX) — Tucson (TUS) — American Eagle by Mesa — CRJ-900ER — N913FJ

→ Join me on yet another short flight aboard American Eagle — flying between cities that are only 110 miles apart! This is flight number 2 of my race to make it home in time for work — which worked out perfectly and I still have my job! We begin at PHX's gate B17 and push back. Being at the far east end of the airport and the departure runway being at the far west side of the airport, one can infer that the taxi time was very, very, long — 20 minutes long. A quick power nap later, and poof! We are at the end of the runway. This CRJ-900 roars to life and tears off down the runway, lifting off about halfway down. We fly the STRRM1 departure and turn to the south — overflying the suburbs of Mesa and Gilbert before continuing further south over the towns of Casa Grande, Eloy, and Marana before descending into Tucson. We land very softly on TUS's runway 11L and make the short taxi back to gate B8, where this flight concludes. As always, all the flight information you could ever desire can be found below!

11. Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport - MSP - Terminal 1 Airport Tour

Thanks for watching this brief tour of Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport!

As a lifelong traveler, I never get tired of the process of boarding a plane going somewhere new and exciting, and one of the little pleasures I enjoy is seeing a new airport on my way to my destination.

Minneapolis Saint-Paul International Airport serves more passengers than every airport in each neighboring state, and it acts as a hub for Delta Air Lines and its regional affiliate Delta Connection for the Upper Midwest. MSP is a great airport to transit, spend some time in, or start your journey anew, with an interesting layout, lots of options for food and shopping, and good planespotting, too. This regional hub is home to its own airline, Sun Country Airlines, which offers dozens of seasonal destinations.

This tour focuses on the primary terminal of the airport, Terminal 1. This terminal contains seven concourses that serve Delta Air Lines and other airlines, including domestic and international carriers. The airport also features several areas throughout the airport where you can shop and relax.

Whether you've got forty minutes or four hours, MSP has what you need to make your visit pleasant and memorable.

Airports are our gateway to the world, and I hope you enjoy this and other airport tour videos from Miles by Foot!

15. Full Flight: Sun Country Airlines B737-800 Minneapolis to Chicago (MSP-ORD)

Hey guys! In this video, I continue on my 2nd flight aboard Sun Country Airlines to Chicago, Illinois! Sun Country is certainly not as well known as Spirit, Frontier, or Allegiant as an ULCC in the US, but they are by far the best of the three and I really enjoyed my experience flying them on both of my flights. I had never flown them before and really wanted to see what they were all about and I was pretty impressed (minus the disgusting smudges around the plane - CLEAN IT SC). We took off and arrived into ORD way early, had a very smooth boarding process, a nice smoothish flight with good scenery, nice FAs, free IFE onboard, USB ports aplenty, and a fairly empty plane which provided for excellent social distancing and lots of room for your legs. All in all, a good flight and I'll definitely be flying Sun Country again in the future if my travels allow it to happen. Hope you guys enjoy!
